Guyanafs Industry towards Success

Industry is the production of goods that brings success and happiness to a successful country. It gives a man a satisfaction of independence. The main industries in Guyana are agro-processing like sugar, rice, timber and coconut. Mining also plays a major role in their industries. There is a light-manufacturing sector, and textile and pharmaceuticals are produced by state and private companies. In 1998, manufacturing accounted for about 11 percent of GDP. Industry as a whole accounted for 32 percent of GDP in 2000. In 2002, breakfast cereals manufactured through the processing of rice were seen as potential exports where the share of the industry in the GDP was 19 percent. In 2004, agriculture contributed with 38.3 percent and also was the main employer in the country. 41.8 percent has been shared in the GDP. The oil industry was expected to be the important earner in future years, although explorations in western Guyana proved unfruitful in the past.
